Lanier Padgett

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Lanier M. Padgett, age 73 of Williams Bridge Road, Avera, Georgia, who died Friday evening, November 6, 2015 in the University Hospital in Augusta.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera with Rev. Frank Thigpen & Rev. John Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: John Padgett, Timmy Padgett, Charles Padgett, Johnny Padgett, Jr., Billy Faglier, Charles Roberts, Ralph Kelley, Chuck Terry and M.L. Hadden.

Lanier was a lifelong resident of Avera, a son of the late Zeke & Estelle Padgett and Dave & Lena Padgett. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera and retired as supervisor from Thermo King after 35 years of service. Lanier served on the Avera City Council for 8 years.

Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Dera Brooks, Doris Milburn, and Ogle Atkins, and a brother; Johnny Padgett and is survived by, beloved wife of 52 years; Glender Padgett, of Avera, son; Jeffrey Padgett of Avera, daughter; Kim & Kevin Poss of Gibson, grandson & best friend; Jackson Poss of Gibson, brother; Albert and Rachel Padgett of Avera, sister-in-laws; Johnnie Walden, of Louisville, Malene Padgett, of Avera, Frankie and Forest Johnson of Martinez, Vivian Braddock, of Gibson and Joyce Smith of Waynesboro, several nieces, nephews and cousins.   

The Padgett family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday.
