Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Betty Smith Cooper, age 78, of Bartow who died Wednesday afternoon April 3, 2024, in the Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday April 6, 2024, in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with Dr. Bill Cain and Rev. David Boggs officiating. Private burial will follow in the family plot in the Parkers Methodist Church cemetery in Bartow. Pallbearers will be Chip Evans, LC Clark, Neal Livingston, Jim Cooper, Gary Smith, and Tim Smith.
A native of Bartow, Mrs. Cooper was one of five children born to the late George B. Smith and Myrtle Palmer Smith. She had worked 29 years with Jefferson Hospital in data processing and 8 years with the Jefferson County Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aide and was a member of Moxley Methodist Church, but her greatest pastime was spending time with her family.
Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 54 years William Arthur “Billy” Cooper, Sr. brothers, Jimmy B. Smith & George T. Smith, sisters, Margaret S. Miller, and Annette S. Livingston, and is survived by companion, Mr. Joe Martin, of Davisboro, her son, William A. (Bill) Cooper, Jr., grandson, Christopher S. (Chris) Cooper, and his wife Allie W. Cooper, great grandchildren, Charis Jubilee Cooper and Joshua Josiah Cooper, all of Bartow. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
If so desired, memorials may be made in her memory to Parkers Methodist Church cemetery fund.
The Cooper family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday April 5, at the funeral home.
