Taylor Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services for Curtis Edward Poole, age 87 of Louisville who died Saturday, November 19, 2022, in the Piedmont Augusta Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday November 23, in the old Bethel Baptist Church, Bartow with the Reverend William Thigpen and Pastor Larry Fincher officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Jefferson County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Poole, Jr., Rodney Poole, James (Jim) Poole, Maurice Searcy, Lance Poole, Adam McNeely, Tom Purvis, and Lee Rowell. 

Curtis was a native of Louisville, and the son of Maurice Ellington Poole and Edna Pearl Cramer Poole.  He served on active duty with the U.S. Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge.  He worked for Brown Transport Corp., Burns Manufacturing Co., and Thermo King Corp., where he retired after 35 years.  He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church.

Curtis was the last of his immediate family to “cross the bar” having been predeceased in death by his parents and all six of his siblings: brothers Leonard C., Maurice E., Robert Roy. (US Navy WWII), Julian E. (US Navy, WWII), Braddy Eugene (US Navy/Air Force, Korean Vietnam Wars), and a sister Effie Pearl Poole Searcy.

Mr. Poole is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 60 years Patricia Purvis Poole, of Louisville, daughter Tammie P. McNeely (Kelly) of Watkinsville and son Christopher T. Poole (Mary Alice) of Winder, Ga.; grandchildren Austin R. McNeely (Macy), Christopher Tyler Poole (Raegan), Kathryn, Sarah and Erin McNeely, Emmi and James Gaston; great grandson Rush McNeely; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1275 Old Bethel Church Road, Bartow, Ga. 30434.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 22, at the funeral home.
