Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and services of Mr. Donald Kitchens, age 74 of Gibson, who died, Friday morning, January 8, 2021 in his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday January 11, 2021 in the Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack McCorkle and Rev. Jon Richards officiating. Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. A native of Glascock County, Don was the son of the late Felts Kitchens and Sue Sammons Kitchens. He graduated from Glascock County High School in 1964 and went on to business school. Don was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church for 28 years where he served as Deacon, played the organ and piano, and was a Sunday School teacher. For many years he was the owner and operator of Kitchens Grocery in Gibson.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by, his loving wife, Geneva Kitchens, daughter, Suzanne Benford (Paul) of Watkinsville, son, Jeffrey Kitchens (Becky) of Winterville, sister, Carol Kendrick of Augusta, grandchildren, Madeline Peacock (Andrew) of Perry, Emily Poole (Allen) of Statham, Phillip Benford of Watkinsville, Jacob Kitchens of Winterville, Ashleigh Kitchens of Winterville several nieces, nephews and many friends.
