Frank Goodson Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mr. Frank Alfred Goodson, age 73, who passed away on March 21, 2024, at his cabin home in Wadley Georgia.  Born on August 24,1950, Frank was predeceased by his mother Maxine DuBois Goodson, father Dorris Millard Goodson, and brother Donald Goodson. He is survived by daughters Heather (Tim) Kobus, and Melissa Goodson; grandchildren Jacob Kobus, Dylan Kobus, and Natalie Kobus; siblings, Lynn (Rick) Brown, Joe Goodson, and Tim (Kelley) Goodson; nephew, Mathew Lockwood and niece, Kelley Lockwood.

Frank graduated from Wadley High school in 1968.  He enlisted in the US Air Force and went on to study Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina.  His first job took him to Florida in 1979 where he worked for Pan Am and then NASA, working specifically with the Space Shuttle program from 1979-1984.  Frank moved to Greenville, SC in 1984, where he worked for Michelin Tire Co. and ultimately finished out his career with Jacobs Engineering with whom he traveled extensively working in countries like Korea, Singapore, Brazil, and Nova Scotia.  In 2022, Frank retired to Georgia to his beloved cabin home where he spent his days gardening, working on home projects, and enjoying visits and time spent with family and friends.  He was a mild-mannered gentle soul, skilled storyteller and was never short of “bad” dad jokes. He had a great love of music, especially the rhythm and blues of artists like Otis Redding. “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” was a favorite and his instrument of choice to play was the harmonica.  He loved all things sports, particularly baseball, and football.  As a University of South Carolina alumnae, he enjoyed cheering on his Gamecocks and attended many games over the years.  The Goodson’s have always been known as “fixers” and Frank could solve any mechanical issue with a piece of PVC pipe, sliver of wood and vice grips.  Born into a farming family, he could grow just about anything, so it was no surprise that his summer garden at his cabin was always abundant.  A devoted father, grandfather (Gdaddy), husband and brother, he loved his family and everyone that entered his world unconditionally. His gentle soul, calm nature, and funny jokes will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Celebration of life will be held on May 4th at 3:00pm at the Cabin, 1866 GA Highway 78 Wadley GA., Officiant by Rev. David Brown of Wadley Baptist church, Eulogy by Allen Goodson. Final resting place of interment will be in the Wadley City Cemetery
