After a battle with Alzheimer’s, Mary Jane Tanner Wells passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday March 25, 2023, in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Jane was born on October 21, 1944, in Louisville, Georgia to Clayton E. Tanner and Myra Amerson Tanner.  She lived the majority of her life in Jefferson County.   She was a homemaker and eventual owner and operator of The Hair Affair, a beauty salon next to her residence. Jane loved being a homemaker and caring for her family, planting, and harvesting a garden, and sewing. She also enjoyed old Westerns, Walker Texas Ranger, reading, and coffee. For several years she attended the First Baptist Church of Louisville and found her comfort working in the kitchen whenever help was needed. 

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Carolyn Grace Cooper, and two special angels, Gunner and Ryker Young. She is survived by her daughter, Lucretia “Tesie” Bowles (Mark) and her son, Heyward “Sonny” Wells, III (Teresa), special niece, Karyn Grace Parker (Brent), special nephews, Clay Grace (Salena) and Robbie Grace.  She loved spoiling her grandchildren, Kristin Bowles Kitchens (Stephen), Ward Bowles (Kate), Reid Wells (Amber), and Emily Wells Chittom (Trey) and her additional grandchildren, Haley Grace, Hannah Grace James (Dalton), Jesse Grace (Tawnie), Cassidy Grace, Carlee Grace, Price Parker, Anna Grace Parker, and Gray Parker.  Her great grandchildren, Henry Kitchens, Haddon Kitchens, Dillon Grace, and Amelia Wells held a special place in her heart. 

The family will receive relatives and friends at her residence at 2846 Old US 1, Wadley, GA.
