Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and services of Mr. Jim C. Usry, Jr., age 81 of Augusta, who died Thursday evening, April 29, 2021 in the University Hospital in Augusta.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera with Johnathan Mathews and Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Clay Thompson, Ashley Thompson, and Ricky Walden. The family will receive friends following the services.
Jim was born in Langley, S.C. to the late Jim C. Usry Sr., and the late Rubie Hicks Usry. Jim primarily resided in Thomson at the Historic Usry House before being incapacitated by a stroke.
He was exceptionally gifted in many fields. He enjoyed teaching English at Thomson High School & a small stent at The University of Georgia. He retired from RAFB, travelled around the world, enjoyed fellowshipping with friends at Barnes *& Noble, doing genealogy & family history research. Jim was an Episcopalian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and survived by sisters, Mildred (Clarence) Thompson of Avera, Eleanor (Bennie) Bachelor of Cochran, brother, Lamar (Brenda) Usry of Ellijay, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
