Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Mary Alice York Cowart, age 69 of Wadley who died Thursday November 25, 2021, in the Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 28 at 3pm, in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, with Rev. Vina Mae Josey and Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Fellowship Church. Pallbearers will be Clayton Jones, Jacob Layman, Colton York, Josh Bryant, Josh Williams & Gene Marsh. Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this time, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. A native of Wadley Mrs. Cowart was a daughter of the late Clarence York & Mary Davis York. She was a retired bus driver with Jefferson County School System for over 25 years and was a longtime member of Freedom Fellowship Church in Bartow.

Mrs. Cowart was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James (Ben) Cowart, siblings, Clarence Edward York, Danny York, Maritha York & Wynell Brantley and is survived by sons, James “Rooster” & Beth Cowart of East Dublin, Allen (Bubba) Cowart of Sparta, Daughter, Karen Cowart, of Wadley, grandchildren, Jessica & Josh Bryant of Jeffersonville, Tori & Josh Williams, of Rentz, Dilion & Chasity Cowart, of East Dublin, Joshua Palmer, of East Dublin, Bennett Cowart, of East Dublin, Clayton Jones, Jacob Layman & Cade Smith, of Wadley brother, Toby & Marian York, of Wrightsville, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Cowart family will receive friends one hour prior to service Sunday at the funeral home.
